Ocean Waves...Handmade Lampwork Focal Bead SRA
I live near the Great Lakes, between Lake Huron and Lake Erie, and the power of the water fascinates me. This bead reminds me of a windy day at the beach, when the wind is whipping up the waves, and the sun glints on the clear water. This beautiful lampwork focal bead is made lovingly by me, Gillian Soskin, in my home glass studio in London, Ontario, Canada. I have used System96 and Caliente glass, with enamels, as the base. Caliente glass is hand-pulled veiled cane, and in pale blue accents, looks wispy. The camera just can't capture the depth of color in this bead....it's gorgeous! This large focal bead measures 35 x 35 x 14mm in size and is made on a 3/32" mandrel. It is textured on the front, and flat on the back so it lies nicely as a pendant. All my beads go directly from the torch to kiln for controlled annealing. All beads are inspected for flaws and thoroughly cleaned for you. I am a self-representing glass artist (SRA # S107) which means that my beads are individually made, by me, and not mass produced. I am also a member of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers.
